One field day event was organized on 6-April-2021 by Office National du Conseil Agricole, ONCA (Moroccan National Office of Agricultural Council) and ICARDA-Morocco to show farmers types of farming systems and crops for diversification in crop rotation in wheat-based farming systems. Twenty farmers and ONCA officials participated in this one-day event. As a part of this event, the different stakeholders namely the farmers (including lead farmers), ONCA representatives, farm managers, researchers from INRA-Morocco, visited ICARDA Marchouch Farm in Morocco to acquaint with on-going research on farming systems, crop improvement, crop diversification and demonstration trials.
The farmers were given lectures on farming systems including conservation agriculture and oil seed crops. ICARDA Marchouch farm manager Mr Mohamed Ouzzine explained potential of camelina as a new oil seed crop for Morocco. The farmers were enthusiastic to see this ‘new’ oil seed crop and seeking more information.
