With the aim of raising awareness of the benefits of growing camelina and implementing conservation agriculture on their farms, Camelina Company España (4CE-MED partner) is developing an agronomic trial in collaboration with IMIDRA (Madrid Institute for Rural Development, Food and Agricultural Research) at Finca El Encín, Alcalá de Henares, Spain.
The agronomic trial includes different seeding techniques for camelina in semi-arid zones like the central area of Spain. This trial is divided in two different seeding dates and combines direct seeding in a non-cultivated soil and tillage seeding in a cultivated soil with broadcast and row seeding. Each of the 32 plots have an area of 30 square meters.

In this way, Camelina Company Spain aims to define, optimize and test under real operational conditions the locally tailor-made 4CE-MED solutions to adopte camelina as a cash cover crop, assuring short-term economic profit to Mediterranean farmers. This work is performed within WP2 of the 4CE-MED project.
